Brooklyn Gatherings

What, When, & Where

Evolving Ground Brooklyn is a group of practitioners and friends who support each other in finding freshness, congruence, and good humor in everyday life. Many of us have been sitting together since the group first formed in early 2023.

Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, Every Sunday, 9:45am - 11:30am. (See schedule below.)

Sit with us

If you would like to attend, please send an email introducing yourself. Say how you found us and where you are in your relationship with meditation. If you would like to bring someone else, that’s great—please introduce them too.

We have limited space, so we can’t guarantee that there will always be room. We always reply to inquiries.

As an Evolving Ground apprentice, Andrew is also available to talk about practice and other ways of connecting to the community.

Meditation

Most of the group will be practicing Opening Awareness—a relaxed, non-concentrative, and vivid style of meditation. The main instruction can be stated as “remain uninvolved.”

If you’d like to read about the why and how of this practice, this introduction is clear and accessible. A full practice manual is available here.

We’ll have half an hour after the sit to discuss practice and whatever else comes up. Sometimes we explore relational practices or guided meditation. Afterward, we often hang out or get lunch.

Seating: We have plenty of meditation cushions for floor sitting (with yoga blocks to adjust the height), as well as couches and chairs. Feel free to bring your own seat if you like.
